Abby was born in South Africa, completed high school and started a five year apprenticeship with some of the best jewelry craftsmen around. The first three years he apprenticed with Jordi Gil a Spaniard who was a winner of many awards such as the S.A. Jewelry designer's awards and the South African gold and diamond awards. At Jordi Gil's place, Abby was trained in the tradition of the Great European Masters of the jewelry trade. The remaining two years of his apprenticeship was under the guidance of Hines Kurts a German how was a master amongst masters. He then started Abby's designs in South Africa at the age of twenty-two.


Abby came to the U.S. at the age of twenty-eight and worked for Goldform for two years. He then went on to work for the Diamond District who had opened the largest jewelry store on the west coast. While working for the Diamond District, Abby had made jewelry for many famous people such as Rick Dees, Don Mosebar of the Raiders, and Eazy E. from N.W.A. just to name a few.


In 1990 Abby started Abby's Designs in the U.S. Most of what he does today is custom designing for stores like “High End Jewelry Stores” at South Coast Plaza. Abby's creations can be seen worn by people like Cher on her last televised concert. Darius Mills, Lamar Odom, Chris Wilcox, Eddie Robinson and Eddie Curry all basketball player.
